The Friends of Seven Islands: Supporting Seven Islands State Birding Park through fundraising, volunteering, and more.

The Friends of Seven Islands State Birding Park is a 501(c)(3) formed in May 2015 to support the Seven Islands State Birding Park.

Our mission is to support Seven Islands State Birding Park (SISBP), Tennessee’s only birding park, in its vision to be a world-class birding destination, to protect, preserve, and promote its natural resources, and to promote the general education of the public. Our membership provides funding for park projects and we are a source of volunteers to assist the park in various ways. If you would like to join our cause, please consider becoming a member!

Seven Islands State Birding Park is Tennessee’s 56th state park, and only birding park, which is situated just 19 miles east of downtown Knoxville in Knox County.  Much of the land lies in a long bend in the French Broad River.  A former dairy farm, most of the fields have been converted back to native grasslands where birds and white-tailed deer abound.  Three barns and two former homes have been preserved on the property.

Projects to Help the Park and the Wildlife Living There

The Friends of Seven Islands creates and participates in a variety of park projects every year. We recently helped the park acquire a new work truck and helped raise funds for a new bridge. Our Bird of the Year Program also helps to educate people about a particular bird species that can be found in the park to help bring awareness and support the birds that live there. Best of all, you can help us with these projects through donations and/or by getting a Friends of Seven Islands membership!
